Live Golf Scoring: a website for live tournament scoring

Live Golf Scoring is a tournament management platform that takes a golf event from the first tee to the final results. Players and spectators follow scores in real time through public leaderboards. I built the website that introduces the product and shows it off.

The brief

The site has to explain a fairly technical product quickly to two very different groups: tournament organisers who want to run an event, and players and spectators who want to see scores.

It also has to work on a phone, because a leaderboard is most often checked on the course, on a small screen, in bright light.

What I built

  • A clear home page that leads with what the product does and shows a leaderboard example straight away.
  • Feature sections for hole-by-hole live scoring, live public leaderboards, and support for Stroke Play, Match Play and Stableford formats.
  • Responsive layouts that keep tables and score displays readable from small phones to wide desktops, with a dedicated mobile version of the key screens.
  • A consistent colour and type system, built around a dark golf-course look with a gold accent so calls to action stand out.

What I paid attention to

  • Leaderboards are tables, and tables are hard on small screens, so how they behave on a phone needs deliberate attention instead of simply shrinking everything.
  • A first-time visitor should understand what the product is within a few seconds, so the headline, supporting text and a real leaderboard sit together at the top.
  • Clear buttons lead to the next step, whether that's trying the product or reading about features.
